1. Curling, cracked, or missing shingles. Pay close attention to your shingles--they're an easy way to recognize roof problems. Shingles curl in two different ways--they can cup (curl up at the edges) or claw (flat edges with a bowed middle). Wind damage often causes cracked shingles, either from the force of the wind itself or from large branches falling on the house.
